This October, we are honored to once again support the 6th Shanghai Butterfly Football Cup — an event that unites people, passion, and purpose to bring hope to children in need across China.
More Than a Game: A Legacy of Strength
The Shanghai Butterfly Football Cup was born from the story of a brave young girl, Zhou Mi.
She lived with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare condition that makes the skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wing.
When we met Zhou Mi in 2018, her determination deeply moved us. She joined the tournament in 2019 and 2020, lighting up the field with her courage and smile.
Though Zhou Mi’s journey ended in 2021, her spirit continues to inspire everyone who plays in her honor.
Expanding the Mission
Over the years, the Butterfly Cup has achieved a remarkable milestone — helping to establish 15 permanent hospital beds and a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Fudan Children’s Hospital for children with EB.
Now, having reached that goal, the Cup is expanding its mission to bring health and education to even more children across China.
This year's focus includes:
Health & Inclusion: Supporting children with heart disease, autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.
Education & Opportunity: Providing schooling for orphans, minority girls in Guangxi and Yunnan, and English education for disadvantaged youth.
9 Charities, One Shared Purpose
This year, the Shanghai Butterfly Football Cup proudly supports 9 charitable organizations dedicated to improving children’s lives:
- Children of Madaifu: Education for orphans and underprivileged children in Gansu.
- Debra China: Care and support for children with Epidermolysis Bullosa.
- Engage @Puma: Education for minority students in Yunnan.
- Fang Fang Education Project: Schooling for ethnic minority children in Guangxi.
- Gift of Life: Life-saving heart surgeries for children with congenital defects.
- Gift of Sound: Hearing aids and rehabilitation for hearing-impaired children.
- Loving Laughter Children’s Day Center: Care for children with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.
- Stepping Stones: English lessons for disadvantaged children.
- Sunrise Suzhou for Autistic Children: Lifelong support and guidance for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Together, these organizations represent compassion, inclusion, and hope — the very values that define this tournament.
